Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela - Part 1

South Africans who adore Nelson Mandela find it difficult to imagine that anyone else could rightfully claim the title of “Greatest Living Human”, as the nation has a hard time being at all objective about the position he occupies in world history. Like many distinguished figures though, Mandela does not only belong to the people of his own country, and his formidable legacy is shared with all of humanity.

The pride of South Africa, however, is to know him better than anyone else ever could, and love him with unrivalled passion. This is not only because Madiba is such a remarkable individual, but also because he embodies what South Africans have accomplished in achieving democracy, while his life reflects the unique complexity of the country.
